From time to time we get emails promoting something, asking for help or in some form or other offering some sort of opportunity that the writer would like us to convey to our membership. After some thought we've decided to publish these requests (or at least a selection of them) here on this page. Please note that the Webmaster and Committee accept no responsibility for the accuracy, or otherwise, of any of the following. Anyone responding to any 'opportunity' does so at their own risk.
Aaron Kidd, Senior Producer of "The Biggest Loser UK" contacted us:-
Iím one of the producers of the new series of Davina McCallís, ĎThe Biggest Loserí, for ITV1 in the United kingdom. The aim of the programme is to take overweight people who are unhappy with their weight and looking to transform themselves and their lives. With the help of our fitness experts, nutritionalists, and doctors we take the contestants through a structured plan of exercise, training and nutritionally balanced dieting in order to help them reduce their weight safely, attain their dream physique and, most importantly, help them change their dietary and exercise habits so that they keep the pounds off!
We are looking for contestants who wish to participate in the programme and I was hoping that you might be able to assist us. Would it be at all possible to circulate information on the programme amongst your members in the hope that they may know of someone, or perhaps even themselves wish to apply? I'd really appreciate any help you could give me.

Mike Shannon contacted Kendal to say:-
As discussed we are looking for actors and locations to shoot a video clip to accompany a song by Dutch artist Maaike Jansen (pronounced Miker Johnson). Maaike was Hollandís Pop Idol winner of 2007 and here is a link of Maaike taking part in the semi final of that competition: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDoyuq1sROg
Please contact your members and let me know if anyone is interested and if they are then we can move it on from there.
To this Kenadl expands:-
Hi Lovely people,
Thought some of you may be interested in doing this. I had a chat with Mike this morning & it all sounds 'proper' - I explained all expense have to be met, no freebies. They want to film in the 2nd week Oct approx & would like to locate themselves here in Ockley.
They need 3 x couples, preferably all different/age etc:
They need room sets, ie:probably homes,
A Living Room
(I'll obviously be helping in this department...........so let me know if any of you are intrested in that aspect? )
All couples appear in the background having an argument, with Maaike in the foreground. Could be a bit of fun!!
Given the timescale, if anyone is interested, can you let me know fairly quickly, so I can arrange a meeting with their Director asap as he has to come from Holland.
Cheers for now
I hope you don't mind me contacting you directly like this but I saw the details about Ockley Dramatic Society on the Amdram website, and thought you might be able to help!
I'm a producer at the TV company Wall to Wall (www.walltowall.co.uk) - makers of Who Do You Think You Are? New Tricks and Edwardian Country House - and am working on a new documentary series for BBC FOUR.
The three part series will look at the impact that modern technology has had on family life over the past 40 years. We are planning to take a modern British family back to the 1970s and then fast forward them through the domestic technological revolution of the 1980s and 1990s, right up to the present day. It's an interesting social history project, which we're hoping will give a fascinating insight into the way our lives have been transformed by domestic technology.
We're currently trying to spread the word as far as possible. I was wondering if you had a members' mailing list and would mind forwarding this email on to it, to see if any one would be interested in getting in touch with me to find out more? If it's easier I can also print off some posters and flyers and send them to you to pin up/distribute.
Ideally the family we're looking for will be interested in how modern technology has changed the family home and keen to show their children what life was like before the world of mobile phones, wireless internet and Facebook. They must own their own home and preferably have 3 children between the ages of eight and eighteen. Above all we're looking for a family who are bright and up for a challenge.
It would be great if you could let me know whether it would be possible to forward this email on. Anyone interested in hearing more can get in touch with me on 020 7241 9308 or email me on Laura.Jackson@walltowall.co.uk At this stage it's just a case of having informal chats on the phone with people who are interested, there is no obligation to take part.
Thanks so much for your time, I really appreciate it.
My name is Stuart Jones, I am the 2nd Assistant Director on a comedy sketch show for e4 called 'Beehive' which is shooting in East Molesey on the 3rd September. I was wondering if I could ask you for your help. I need to populate a restaurant with around 20 people for 3 of our sketches and was wondering if your members might be up for that sort of thing? We will be able to pay a one off fee of £40 for the day (0900 - 1900) and we will also be providing lunch. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me either email email@example.com or on my production phone number which is 07891 365812.

Ottershaw Players announce open auditions for their "Christmas" production of
The Wind in the Willows
adapted by Alan Bennett
Perhaps you are feeling a little Ratty, maybe you have a Mole. I donít want to Toady up to you or Badger you into coming but I know Iíll Weasel it out of you in the end... Oh please forgive my Rabbiting on...
The read through for the Wind in The Willows will take place on Monday 10th July at The Castle Pub in Ottershaw at 8:00 pm.
Auditions will take place on Tuesday 18th July in the Players' Hut from 8:00 pm and Sunday 23rd July at 7:00 pm at Brook Hall, Brox Road.
If possible I would like people to attend both if they can, especially if you are interested in one of the main characters. Scripts will be available for you borrow at the reading on the 10th so you will be able to make your mind up then.
Auditions on the Tuesday will be largely reading and on Sunday will also include a workshop session. If you can only make one of the audition dates I would suggest the Sunday will be the most important.
I would hope to have cast the play and given out scripts by the end of July with rehearsals starting late August / early September. I would hope that, principal characters especially, will have a good grip on their lines prior to the beginning of rehearsals.
The dates of the performance are 26th November Ė 2nd December.
Right, Iím off for tea now - that is if the kettle will make the water a little ĎOtter...
