Ockley Dramatic Society - Socials in 2004

Saturday 10th January 2004

The Annual ODS Dinner was held, as for the past few years, at the Cricketers, with 14 members in attendance. The theme this year was "All That Glitters....". We eat, we drank, we had a good time. What more is there to say? Well, there is this photo (50kb).

Thursday 15th January 2004

Play reading at the Cabin, "Gattonside" by kind permission of Jim and Jane (at 8.00 p.m. each evening), specifically to find a suitable presentation for May. Play sets have been selected for this and the subsequent three dates. Just turn up on any of the days if interested. This includes non-members.

Saturday 28th February 2004

Trip to Dorking Halls to see DDOS's annual "big show". This year it was Sweeny Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Saturday 6th March 2004

Our presentation, a couple of years ago, of Bob Larbey's marvellous comedy, "Sand Castles", enjoyed a wide audience, including representatives of another amateur society, called Theatre 48. They were sufficiently moved to vow at once to perform it themselves; and that ambition came to fruition in the first week of March at the new "Capitol Theatre" at Horsham (formerly the Horsham Arts Centre).

Saturday 13th March 2004

Games afternoon/evening with Bernard & Yvonne starting at 3:00pm with a break early evening to consume pizza. The results: Therapy - Shelby; Semantics (in teams) - Eric, David and Bernard; Chocolate Cludeo - Yvonne (who was more focused on winning than some of us who were more focused on consuming as much chocolate as possible).

Saturday 20th March 2004

The Ockley Quiz. As always the hall was packed and the standard high with just 20 points separating the first and last teams. "Wit's End" (a new team) were the winners by the tightest of margins after the second set of tie-break questions. Eric Howker's team, "North Ockley", had a rare off night and were well out of the running. The official Drama team could only manage a third quartile position (played the joker on the wrong round).

Saturday 17th April 2004

The Sausage Sizzle at Phil's place.
No report received, but no doubt a right boozy time was had by all!

Friday 16th July 2004

AGM followed by a buffet at "The Cricketers Arms", Ockley, in their back room. See announcement page for report.

Autumn 2004

For the first time in many years the society failed to field a team for the Ockley Society quiz evening. However, the good news is that Doris Lemon and Elizabeth Wood played on the winning team, representing Forest Green W.I. Well done, ladies!

Saturday 20th November 2004

A visit was made to Dorking to watch DDOS's production of Macbeth, a very exciting and atmospheric presentation (set in modern dress and "in the round").
